imported categories do not appear

I found the answer. I entered a category in Joomla 3. THen I compared the categories table in the database for the test category that I entered to the categories that I imported and discovered that the only difference was in the published column. I changed the "-2" value that all the imported categories had to "1" and all the categories then appeared in joomla administration.

I am importing categories from Joomla 2.5 into 3.0. I have successfully imported them into Joomla 3.0 but no categories appear in the administration. I have checked the database and they have been successfully imported. I am not sure what is causing this problem. Any ideas? TIA TOM
