OK - in the meantime
I've had to plough on and so have (re)created all the essential menus manually - so if you do get a chance to find out what may be causing the problem, please don't mess up what I've already done.
I hope I can get this software to work ok on other sites so I don't feel like i've just wasted a chunk of time and money

Not sure whether this is the same/related issue but i have tried to setup and import modules and can't get this to work either
. I thought this was a better option for saving time - but, so far, no joy and plenty of time wasted

Thanks Daniel,
Could you give me a few pointers on the filter? - as it doesn't seem very obvious (to me!) as to which bit contains that info

Hi Simon,
Please apply a filter in Menu Export profile on your old site to exclude all the admin Menus and the Root Menus. And try importing this new exported Data in your new Website.

Another menu item has the same alias in Root was created by Simon Dainty
Hi there,
Exporting/Importing menus and getting this error message when imported.
Another menu item has the same alias in Root. (remember it may be a trashed item). Root is the top level parent.
Import Failed
All existing menus on new site have had names & aliases changed
Any suggestions?
