Retaining orginal ID's for Articles and Category

I want to be able to keep the same article ID and same Category ID when importing.

If an article or Category with the same ID already exists I want it to overwrite that article or category during import.

I assume the key to doing this is making the sure the IMPORT settings are correct. Although I assume there might be important settings to make in the export. Especially the Category table export -- since I had to create that myself because only Article profile comes with Hexdata.

Can you tell me what the import settings for the article and category ID must be in order to overwrite any articles or categories with that same ID.

I'm double checking the documentation but would appreciate any comments here.

To clarify,I want the articles and categories which are imported to have the exact same ID's on that they had on the old export site.

When I tried to do this with the profiles I created, the articles did not match up with their original categories.

That is probably because the site I am importing TO is an existing Joomla site which already has some if not all of these ID's already assigned to different categories and articles.

So again, in every case I want the articles and categories to have the exact same ID's as the original site -- even if it means overwriting the existing articles and categories.
